Connect Invoice My Clients to Claude and ChatGPT
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Invoice My Clients works inside the AI assistants you already use. Once connected, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT about your invoices, clients, estimates and time, and have it prepare drafts for you. You sign in with your Invoice My Clients account and approve exactly what the assistant may do. No key is copied.
Server URL
https://mcp.invoicemyclients.com/mcpBefore you start
- An Invoice My Clients account. Every plan can connect, Free and Starter included. Your plan’s limits, such as the number of invoices a month, apply to what the assistant does, exactly as in the app.
- An AI assistant that supports connectors (remote MCP servers), such as Claude (web, desktop or mobile), ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor.
Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile)
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Find Invoice My Clients in the directory and choose Connect. If it is not listed in your account yet, choose Add custom connector and paste the server URL below.
- Claude opens Invoice My Clients. Sign in, check what Claude is asking for, and choose Approve.
- Start a new chat and ask, for example: "Which of my invoices are overdue?"
https://mcp.invoicemyclients.com/mcpChatGPT
- Open Settings, then Apps and Connectors.
- Find Invoice My Clients and choose Connect. If it is not listed in your workspace yet, add it as a custom connector with the server URL below (ChatGPT may ask you to turn on developer mode for that).
- Sign in to Invoice My Clients when ChatGPT opens it, and approve the access it asks for.
- In a chat, ask, for example: "Draft an invoice for Acme Plumbing for 3 hours of work at $95 an hour."
https://mcp.invoicemyclients.com/mcpClaude Code
Add the server with the command below, then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose to authenticate. Your browser opens Invoice My Clients; sign in and approve. The screen warns you that the connection returns to your own computer: approve only if you just started it.
claude mcp add --transport http invoice-my-clients https://mcp.invoicemyclients.com/mcpWhat the assistant can do
- Read your invoices, clients, estimates and proposals, payments, receipts, time entries, projects and reports.
- Create and edit drafts: invoices and line items, clients, estimates, proposals, time entries and projects.
- Record a payment you received outside the app, such as cash or a check.
- Answer questions such as "How much is outstanding?" or "Who pays late?" from your real data.
What you approve, and what stays in the app
- On the approval screen you see the app that asks, where your access goes, and each permission: read; create and change; send to your clients; credit checks. You can deny.
- Every tool is labeled as read-only or as one that changes data, so your AI assistant can ask for your OK before each change (unless you tell it to always allow). Reading data does not change anything.
- On your live account, an AI assistant never sends anything to your clients: no emails, texts, reminders or recurring sends. It prepares the draft and you send it from the app.
- An AI assistant cannot move money: it cannot charge a card, refund, or switch on automatic payments. Those stay in the app.
- The assistant works only on your own account, and only while the connection is active.
Disconnect
- Remove Invoice My Clients from the connectors in your AI assistant. The assistant stops using it, and the access it held expires within an hour.
- If you see a connection you did not make yourself, write to support@invoicemyclients.com and we end it.
If something does not work
- "Authorization failed" or a sign-in loop: start the connection again from your assistant and approve it in the same browser where you are signed in to Invoice My Clients.
- The assistant says an action was refused: the reply says why, for example that sends on the live account are done in the app, or that your plan has used this month’s invoices.
- Still stuck? Email support@invoicemyclients.com with the name of your AI assistant and the time it happened.
