Claude is the AI assistant made by Anthropic. You can connect it to your Invoice My Clients account through our MCP server (a connector, in Claude’s words). Once connected, you ask Claude about your invoices, clients, estimates, payments and time in plain language, and it can prepare the work for you: a draft invoice, a new client, an estimate, a payment you received by check.
You sign in with Invoice My Clients and approve what Claude may do. No API key is copied, and sending anything to a client stays your decision.
What Claude can do with your account
- Invoices
- Find and read invoices, see what is overdue and the totals outstanding, look at an invoice’s history, and draft invoices with their line items. New invoices start as drafts.
- Estimates and proposals
- Draft and edit estimates and proposals, with sections and pricing tables, and turn an accepted one into a draft invoice.
- Clients
- Look up, add and update clients, read a client’s overview and activity, and keep private notes on a client.
- Payment status
- See which invoices are paid, partly paid or open, list payments and receipts, and record a payment you received outside the app, such as cash or a check. Claude cannot charge a card or issue a refund.
- Reminders
- Read the reminders on an invoice (what was sent and what comes next) and the reminders held for you to approve. Approving or skipping a held reminder stays in the app.
- Time and projects
- Log time, start and stop a timer, see unbilled hours and turn them into a draft invoice, and check projects and their budgets.
- Reports
- Answer questions from your own numbers, such as what you invoiced this month or which clients pay late.
Every plan can connect Claude, Free included. Which features your account has depends on your plan, as listed on the pricing page: estimates, time tracking with projects, and automatic reminders are part of Professional and above. Plan limits apply to what Claude does, for example the 25 invoices a month on Free. See pricing
Use cases by role
The prompts below are examples; say it the way you would to a person. The client names are made up.
A trades owner on a job site
You finish a water heater swap and want the invoice drafted before you leave the driveway, from Claude on your phone.
- “Draft an invoice for Jordan Lee: water heater replacement, $1,450 for parts and labor, due in 15 days.”
- “Which of my invoices are overdue, and who owes me the most?”
- “Record a $600 check from Lakeside Dental against invoice INV-202610-003.”
- “Log 3.5 hours today on the Harbor Fitness remodel project.”
A freelancer
You bill by the hour and lose track of what is unbilled at the end of the month.
- “Turn my unbilled hours for Bluebird Bakery into an invoice.”
- “Prepare an estimate for Harbor Fitness for a brand refresh: logo, style guide and social templates.”
- “How much did I invoice this month, and how much of it is still open?”
- “Add a new client: Rivera Studio, billing email hello@example.com.”
A bookkeeper or office manager
You keep the receivables of the business whose Invoice My Clients account you sign in to, and you want answers without exporting spreadsheets.
- “List every payment recorded in October and the invoice each one paid.”
- “Which invoices are partly paid, and what is left on each?”
- “What reminders went out on INV-202610-002, and what is the next one?”
- “Show me the notes and recent activity for Harbor Fitness.”

In Claude Code, add the server with this command, run /mcp and choose to authenticate. Your browser opens the same sign-in and approval screen.
claude mcp add --transport http invoice-my-clients https://mcp.invoicemyclients.com/mcpChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients use the same server, the same sign-in and the same rules. The full steps for each are on the connection guide. Connection steps
How approval works
- You choose the permissions when you connect. The approval screen lists them one by one: read your data; create and change records; send to your clients; and stay connected so you are not asked to sign in every hour. You can deny the connection.
- Every action that changes your data is marked as one, so Claude asks you before it runs it unless you choose to always allow it. Reading changes nothing.
- Sending is separate. Claude can email an invoice or estimate, schedule a send, start a recurring invoice or resume reminders only if you approved “send to your clients” when you connected. Claude then asks you to confirm each send. Our server cannot see that confirmation, so do not set sends to always allow unless you mean it. Without that permission, Claude prepares the draft and you send it from the app.
- Each send made through Claude is recorded in the invoice history as done by the AI assistant on your behalf.
- Money never moves through Claude. It cannot charge a card, refund a payment, or switch on automatic payments; those stay in the app.
- We can switch off sending through AI assistants for every account at once if something looks wrong, without waiting for anyone to disconnect.
Security and privacy
- Claude connects with OAuth sign-in. You sign in on our site, not in the chat, and Claude never sees your password.
- Access is granted per permission (scope) and to your own account only. An access token lasts at most one hour; Claude renews it with a refresh token that changes on every use and expires after 30 days without use. If a refresh token that was already used shows up again later, we treat it as stolen and end that connection.
- We store every sign-in code and token only as a one-way hash, and the session behind a connection is encrypted with a key that only the connected assistant holds.
- What Claude sees: the results of the actions it runs on your account, such as an invoice or a client record. We do not receive your conversation with Claude, its memory or your files. The results go to Anthropic, which runs Claude under its own terms and privacy policy.
- To revoke access, remove Invoice My Clients from your connectors in Claude; the access it held expires within an hour. To end a connection on our side, write to privacy@invoicemyclients.com.

Known limits today
- Invoice My Clients is not in Claude’s connector directory yet. Add it as a custom connector with the server URL above.
- If you sign in to Invoice My Clients with Google, Amazon or company single sign-on, sign in to the app first, in the same browser, and then connect. If you start signed out, you may land on your invoices instead of the approval screen; start the connection again from Claude. We are still confirming that these connections renew on their own the way email and passkey sign-ins do, so if Claude says the connection has expired, connect again.
- A connection approved before October 26, 2026 cannot send; connect again to approve sending.
- Claude cannot approve or skip a held reminder, charge a card, refund, or switch on automatic payments.
- Claude writes the drafts, but you own what goes to your clients: check the amounts and the client before you approve a send.
The assistant inside Invoice My Clients runs on Claude too
The AI assistant built into the Invoice My Clients app, on the web and in the Android app, runs on Claude models from Anthropic, served through Amazon Bedrock on AWS: Claude Sonnet 5 on the Free and Starter plans and Claude Opus 5.5 on Professional and above. You do not need a Claude account to use it, and it follows the same send and money rules.
