Free Templates Where Every Format Actually Computes
Handyman invoice template
Handyman work is many small jobs on one visit, and the invoice should read that way: task by task, labor and materials split, under one call-out fee that makes the trip worthwhile.
Task lines, not "misc labor"
List each task: "rehang closet door", "caulk tub surround", "replace disposal". Customers reviewing five named tasks see value; customers reviewing "labor - 4 hours" see a number to negotiate. Named tasks are also your record when something is questioned months later.
The call-out minimum
A stated minimum protects the trip cost. Better: frame it as covering the first task, then batch - "while I’m here" additions at task rates are the natural upsell of this trade, and the batched invoice under one call-out is the deal customers thank you for.
Materials at cost plus time
Bill materials with the receipt total plus your pickup time as labor - transparent and defensible. The type column keeps the split visible; the 90-day labor warranty field states your standard without a contract.

Handyman invoice FAQ
Hourly or per task?+
Per task for anything you can scope on sight - it rewards your speed. Hourly for open-ended work like troubleshooting. Many pros quote tasks from an internal hourly rate.
What jobs need a license?+
Rules vary widely: many states cap handyman jobs by dollar amount and reserve electrical/plumbing/HVAC for licensed trades. Know your state’s threshold and stay under it.
Should I collect payment on site?+
For residential one-offs, yes - card or payment link before you leave. The invoice becomes the receipt, and collection problems disappear.
