Invoice clients who pay by check

Some of your best clients will never click a payment link. They want a paper invoice, they pay by check, and they expect you to know the check is coming.

The situation

Property managers, municipalities, older family businesses: the invoice has to arrive by mail and the payment arrives the same way, ten days later, with a remittance stub listing three invoices and one deduction.

What goes wrong today

Printing, stuffing and stamping invoices is a chore that gets batched and delayed. Reminders go out to a client whose check is already in the post. When the check arrives, someone has to work out which invoices it covers and type the payment in.

How it works in Invoice My Clients

Send the invoice by mail from the invoice itself: USPS First-Class or Certified, address checked before it prints, tracking afterwards, with the per-piece price shown before you commit (Professional plan and above). When the client says the check is in the mail, record the promised date on the invoice and reminders pause until it passes. When the check and stub arrive, photograph them: the AI reads the amounts and invoice numbers and proposes the match, which you confirm. Partial payments and payments across several invoices are handled.

Questions people ask

What does mailing an invoice cost?+

About $2.49 for First-Class and about $12.99 for Certified, per piece, shown before you send and billed with your plan.

Can I include a payment link anyway?+

Yes. The mailed invoice is the same document as the emailed one, payment details included, so a client who changes their mind can still pay online.

Do I have to deposit the check through you?+

No. You deposit it at your bank as usual; the app records the payment against the invoice.
