Worked example
An invoice dated 27 October 2026 on Net 30 is due Thursday 26 November 2026, which is Thanksgiving. Rolled to the next business day it is due Friday 27 November. Ten business days from 18 December 2026 is 5 January 2027, after Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
What the list covers
The list is the federal holiday schedule from the Office of Personnel Management, including the observed dates it lists (Independence Day 2026 is observed on Friday 3 July). States and banks can close on other days too. For federal contracts, 5 CFR 1315.4(h) lets a payment due on a weekend or federal holiday be made the next business day without late-payment interest.
- Federal holidays that fall on a Saturday are observed on the Friday before, and Sunday holidays on the Monday after, per OPM.
- New Year's Day 2028 falls on a Saturday, so OPM lists Friday 31 December 2027 as the observed holiday.
