Definition

What Net 10 means

Ten days counted from the day after the invoice date, weekends and holidays included. Net 10 is also the window in the common early-payment term "2/10 Net 30", where the client may take 2% off by paying within 10 days.

When to use it

  • Short projects where you want payment within two weeks without the strictness of Net 7.
  • Clients who pay by card or bank link and have no approval process.
  • As the discount window in "2/10 Net 30" terms.

How it reads on the invoice

Payment terms: Net 10. Invoice date Monday, November 2, 2026. Payment due Thursday, November 12, 2026.

Common mistakes

  • Not checking holidays. An invoice dated 15 December 2026 on Net 10 is due on Christmas Day.
  • Confusing Net 10 with "2/10 Net 30". The first is the due date; the second is a discount offer with a 30-day due date.
  • Assuming business days. "10 business days" is usually 14 calendar days.
