Definition
What Net 15 means
Count 15 days starting the day after the invoice date. Weekends and holidays count as ordinary days unless your terms say "business days" or say what happens when the date lands on a non-working day. "Net" means the full invoice amount, with no discount for paying early.
When to use it
- Freelance and small-project work where waiting a month would strain your cash flow.
- Repeat clients who already pay reliably and can schedule a payment inside two weeks.
- Small invoices that a client can approve without a purchase order or a monthly payment run.
How it reads on the invoice
Payment terms: Net 15. Invoice date Monday, November 2, 2026. Payment due Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
Common mistakes
- Counting the invoice date as day 1. Day 1 is the day after, so 16 November on Net 15 is due 1 December, not 30 November.
- Forgetting weekends. An invoice dated Saturday 31 January 2026 on Net 15 falls due on Sunday 15 February. If you expect a bank transfer to land that day, say "or the next business day" (Monday 16 February).
- Writing "15 days" with no starting point. "Net 15 from the invoice date" removes the argument about whether the clock starts when the client opened the email.
- Sending the invoice late. Net 15 runs from the date printed on the invoice, so an invoice dated last week but emailed today has already used a week of the client's time.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does "Net 15 from today" mean?
It means the invoice is dated today and payment is due 15 calendar days later. Enter today as the invoice date above and the calculator shows the date, its weekday and whether it lands on a weekend.
Does Net 15 include weekends?
Yes, unless the terms say otherwise. Net 15 is 15 calendar days. Choose "business days" above if your contract counts working days only, or roll the date to the next business day if it lands on a weekend or holiday.
Is Net 15 better than Net 30?
For your cash flow, yes: you are paid about two weeks sooner. Larger clients often run payments monthly, though, and may push back on Net 15. Agree the term before the work starts and print it on every invoice.
